Exclusive vs. non‑exclusive data deals

A key term that shapes both price and future options.

Exclusivity is one of the most important terms in any data deal.

Exclusive

One buyer gets sole rights to the licensed records, for a set scope or time. This can command a higher price but limits future deals.

Non‑exclusive

You keep the option to license the same records elsewhere. Each individual deal may be priced differently.

Questions to ask

What is the scope? How long does exclusivity last? What happens when it ends? Your counsel should review the final terms.

Our average deal size is between $250K and $1M. Find out what your records are worth in a few quick questions.
