CAD files and design data in AI training
Engineering and design records are some of the hardest material for labs to find.
Design files are among the most distinctive records a company can hold. Very little real engineering work is published openly, which makes it scarce.
Why labs value design records
AI systems are increasingly expected to assist with design and engineering. To do that well, they need to see how real parts, products and spaces are drawn, revised and specified, not just finished renderings.
Revision history matters
A single final drawing says less than the sequence of versions that led to it. Revisions show what changed, why, and what problems were solved along the way.
What to inventory
Count your CAD files and sketches, note roughly how many years they span, and check whether any belong to clients under confidentiality terms. Client‑owned designs may need to be excluded or cleared first.
Sketches count too
Hand sketches and early concepts, once scanned, show the thinking that precedes formal drawings. Include them in your estimate.
Our average deal size is between $250K and $1M. Find out what your records are worth in a few quick questions.
